People of Kingston, your waterfront will resemble Hong Kong once the demolition crews and developers are finished.

Limestone is known as "The Nation's Building Stone" in the United States because so many historic buildings and landmarks were created from this material:

The Lincoln Memorial
The Washington National Cathedral
The Empire State Building
Rockefeller Center
Grand Central Station in New York City
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City
Ellis Island

The Kingston Penitentiary was built with limestone and the buildings could potentially last for thousands of years. But the landmark is currently in danger, because of the apathy of Canadians and the actions of a federal Crown corporation.
Canada Lands Company owns the Kingston Pen. YouTube has video showing the destruction of the Canada Lands Company owned CN Tower in London, Ontario, Google: "CN building implosion London".

The Pen and Prison for Women could be saved, if Portsmouth Village is declared a Heritage Conservation District:
Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act gives municipalities the ability to designate heritage conservation districts. Districts are areas whose cultural heritage value contributes to a sense of place far beyond their individual buildings, structures and landscapes.

The municipal politician  who  represents the Village of Portsmouth will not do anything to preserve KP and P4W:

"I can imagine a high rise there...We've already talked to Queen's about commercial on the lower floor, student housing in the middle and then high end housing on the top floor which is where you've got the view".   ("Queen's University is selling the former Prison for Women in Kingston"by Mike Postovit, Videographer for Global News, November 14 2017.)

Canada Lands Company is an arms-length Crown corporation that operates at arms-length from the government of Canada, from the people. The CLC has access to millions of dollars because they can keep the proceeds from the sale of federal property. Money from the sale of land and buildings is not deposited into the Consolidated Revenue Fund, Canada's federal treasury.

A Senate investigation headed by Senator Lowell Murray was critical of the fact that the National Capital Commission is allowed to keep money from the sale of Crown property.

Canada Lands Company, with their millions of dollars, can hire wrecking crews, public relations companies, Bay Street lawyers who convince local government officials to change municipal planning guidelines...

People of Kingston, one day your descendants will want to know why you didn't stop the destruction of the Kingston Pen.
Why you approved of the plan to turn the Village of Portsmouth into the City of Portsmouth.

Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau tried to save the railway lands on the Toronto waterfront, he wanted to preserve the land as green space for future generations. One project was the Crown corporation Harbourfront. But Canada Lands Company/CN Real Estate ended up selling most of the CNR land to condominium builders,, all you can see is high-rise condominiums on Toronto's waterfront for miles and miles.

The interior of the Prison for Women will be totally destroyed

"...there are a number of interior features such as steel bars and locking mechanisms that make any type of commercial adaptive re-use practically impossible to achieve."
(From "June 2018 Mayor Patterson's Community update")

The Prison for Women green space will be massively built upon.
Prison for Women cell.
