An Update - Properties that the Federal Government of Canada wanted to sell in 2007.

1.) Constitution Building - 305 Rideau Street Ottawa - recently transferred to the Canada Lands Company.

2.) Major General G.R. Pearkes Building, 101 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa - 10,000 DND employees were relocated to the former Nortel campus.

3.) The Sir Charles Tupper Building, Sir Leonard Tilley Building and the Taxation Data Centre will be demolished, prior to the massive redevelopment of the 257-acre Confederation Heights campus. tThe CBC Headquarters may be spared; however, once a federal building is privatized, it loses all heritage designation and protection. The Taxation Data Centre encompasses 150 acres of land.
I am generally opposed to the sale of public property to private real estate companies, who turned the Toronto waterfront into a concrete jungle. Who appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board, when city councillors object to their zoning and density changes.
The Sir Leonard Tilley Building and the CBC Building at 1500 Bronson are vacant.

5.) RCMP National Headquarters, 1200 Vanier Parkway Ottawa - Thousands of RCMP staff are moving to a rented space at JDS Uniphase. Public Works Canada is "currently reviewing options for the future use of the asset and, as such, a new tenant has not been identified." (From: "Thousands of buildings owned by Ottawa are crumbling and need repair database shows" by Diana Zlomislic, thestar.com; April 21, 2012.)
1200 Vanier Parkway is more than "an asset"---the RCMP Headquarters are Crown property, collectively owned by the People of Canada; named in honour of L.H. Nicholson, the first Commissioner of the RCMP; and designated a heritage property by Parks Canada.

RCMP National Headquarters - 1983.
6..) Thomas d'Arcy McGee Building - 90 Sparks Street Ottawa. Sold to Larco Investments, the same real estate entity that bought:
The Chateau Laurier Hotel Ottawa - A Canadian National Railway hotel.
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver - a CNR and Canadian Pacific Railway Hotel.
The Dominion Public Building on Front Street in Toronto, near Union Station. The landmark houses the Canada Revenue Agency and other departments; in a few years the government employees will be evicted from the site.
Canada Revenue Agency Montreal Building.
Harry Hays Federal Building - Calgary - Canada Revenue Agency, other departments.
Joseph Shepard Federal Building - Toronto- Canada Revenue Agency, other departments.
Canada Place Federal Building - Edmonton - Canada Revenue Agency, other departments.
Skyline Towers 1 to V11 - 1400 Merivale Road Ottawa.

7.) Lester B. Pearson Building - 125 Sussex Drive Ottawa.

8.) Sir William Logan Building, 580 Booth Street Ottawa.

12.) Gatineau Preservation Centre - 625 Boulevard du Carrefour, Gatineau.

13.) National Printing Bureau - 45 Sacre-Coeur Boulevard, Gatineau.

14.) Asticou Centre - 241 Boulevard de la Cite-des-Jeunes. - A public service training centre in Hull, Quebec, built on a 64-acre parcel of land.

15.) West Memorial Building, Ottawa and East Memorial Building - Wellington Street in Ottawa.

16.) The 111 Sussex Complex - Also known as "Green Island".
