The William Saunders Building was never part of a Government of Canada land deal.

 But a video taken yesterday shows crab apple trees, located beside the building, being loaded directly into a woodchipper. And Agriculture Canada employees are trying to salvage what they can. The video is from "Reimagine Ottawa Twitter" and is entitled "90 year old crab apple trees in/nr William Saunders side yard  @ Farm straight into the woodchipper pre-hospital devt."

The William Saunders Building is located south of the blue DARA Tennis Club courts near Maple Drive.The property was not donated to the Civic Hospital, it is not outlined in red. The Civic has indicated that they do not want "irregularily shaped parcels of land"---read the document "NCC Federal Site Review for the New Civic Campus of the OttawaHospital ---November 2016." Page 45/259 "An irregular shape would require fundamental modifications." Eventually the Dominion Observatory and Commissioners Park will be gone. And public access to Maple Drive and Prince of Wales Drive will disappear.
