Conservation Protocol
7.1.6. The City will protect and conserve cultural heritage resources in accordance with the best available cultural resource Protocols and Charters including, but not limited to, the following:

a.) UNESCO and International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMAS) Conventions and Charters;
b.) The Standards and guidelines for the Conservation of historic places in Canada;
c.) The Ontario Ministry of Culture's eight guiding principles in the conservation of built heritage properties.

UNESCO is an agency of the United Nations, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The agency helps to preserve important cultural and environmental landscapes. UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Canada include the Old Town of Lunenburg in Nova Scotia, the Historic District of Old Quebec in Quebec City and the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks.
