"Future of Hog's Back Bridge a hot topic after NCC audit reveals need for repairs."

CBC News, August 25, 2017. So what are you planning to do National Capital Commission? You have already sold two other bridges that span the Rideau, the Mackenzie King and Laurier Avenue bridges:

TV Ontario recently produced a marvelous documentary called "Tripping the Rideau Canal" which can be viewed on YouTube.
The Rideau Canal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. UNESCO sent a warning letter to Parks Canada because of recent developments:

  • The Rideau Canal Crossing pedestrian bridge - Ottawa.
  • Chateau Laurier Hotel proposed expansion - Ottawa.
  • Highway 417 bridge rehabilitation - Ottawa.
  • Third Bridge Crossing - Kingston, Ontario.
  • Rideau Marina - Kingston, Ontario. The marina was sold to a company that wants to build a 7-storey apartment. UNESCO properties have buffer zones.
  • Former Davis Tannery Brownfield Site Redevelopment - Kingston, Ontario.
  • New Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus - Ottawa.
