The CNR was Canada's oldest Crown corporation and was created to unite this country and to provide a service, especially for remote communities. The town of Churchill Manitoba was isolated for over a year because Bill Gates refused to repair the railway tracks. The government of Canada recently bought the tracks and many residents were so happy they cried and a street party was organized.
Bill Gates ignored pleas from people in Kingston, Ontario to save the Montreal Street Outer Station. What a fine corporate citizen you are, the richest man in the world has nothing but contempt for a country that sold a Crown jewel for a bargain basement price. Winnipeg Member of Parliament Bill Blaikie called it "a sad day for Canada" when the railway was privatized.
