More demolition of Canada's built history.

Who is running this country anyway? A shadow government that wants to keep ordinary Canadians focused on hockey and basketball, the British Royal Family and the Kardashians? The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is obsessed with the British Royal Family, I see non-stop coverage of The Queen's "Trooping of the Colour", Royal Weddings and documentaries about their palaces and castles.
Our National Broadcaster should focus on Canadian heroes like Terry Fox (my sister Nancy Anthis wrote a song about Terry Fox that is on YouTube). And humanitarian Jean Vanier, who condemned the warehousing of disabled people in institutions like the Rideau Regional Centre, Smiths Falls, Ontario.
At one time we owned castles, they were the Chateau Laurier, Macdonald Hotel in Edmonton, Hotel Vancouver and Winnipeg's Fort Garry Hotel. We owned billion-dollar Crown corporations---for example the CNR and Teleglobe.

1.)  Paul Martin Federal Building, 185 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor, Ontario - See the Internet article "Paul Martin Building demolition is an option" says MP-Windsor Star.

2.)  The Emergency Preparedness College or Federal Civil Defence College, 145 Baskin Drive East, Arnprior is gone. The City of Arnprior wants to buy the 18 acre site.

3.)  The Diefenbunkers - located at the following bases: Borden, Ontario; Debert, Nova Scotia;  Nanaimo, British Columbia; Penhold, Alberta and Shilo, Manitoba. Gone.

4.)  The Customs House, 816 Government Street, Victoria, British Columbia. According to a public relations document "The Customs House development encompasses a full restoration of the historic Customs House building at Wharf and Courtney Streets into luxury condominiums. A seven,-storey new-build wing will replace a 1959 addition fronting onto Government Street." A   video that chronicles the development of this project can be found on YouTube: "Customs House on Victoria, B.C.'s Inner Harbour."
816 Government Street, Victoria - before.
816  Government Street- after.

  1. Woah! I'm really enjoying the template/theme of this website. It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's hard to get that "perfect balance" between usability and visual appearance. I must say you have done a amazing job with this. Additionally, the blog loads super fast for me on Opera. Exceptional Blog!
