National Capital Commission Parks in Ottawa during the year 2002.

Major's Hill Park

Vincent Massey Park

Kingsview Park

Riverain Park

Rockcliffe Park

Confederation Park

Commissioner's Park - The construction of a new Civic Hospital on the Farm will result in the loss of a parking lot near Dow's Lake. Events in Commissioner's Park including the Tulip Festival will be negatively impacted by the new hospital because of noise and light pollution; the influx of vehicles and the loss of greenspace. Commissioner's Park and Queen Juliana Park are sacred ground in my opinion, just as important as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. and other places of remembrance. Commissioner's Park is a memorial---where people can meditate and reflect; admire the scenery and view the inscriptions on the many commemorative plaques and statues. When I visit the park I love to hear the sounds of birds, and of children laughing and playing. I do not want to hear the sounds of construction, helicopters and ambulances. I cannot think of a more inappropriate location for a hospital - THE EXPERIMENTAL FARM -
"The Oasis in the Middle of a City"
"The Country in the City"
"Our Jewel in the Crown."
and the SIR JOHN CARLING BUILDING Site - near Commissioner's Park, Dow's Lake and Queen Juliana Park. Who in their right mind would deliberately set out to ruin major tourist venues and park land that neighbourhoods like Little Italy desperately need.
