The loss of Canada's cultural identity.

The impending desecration of the Chateau Laurier Hotel is just one example of how Canada's history is being dismissed, forgotten and demolished. The Canadian National Railway hotels should never have been privatized and sold to foreign entities including Prince al Waleed bin Talal.  The Chretien government should never have sold the Royal Canadian Mounted Police image to the Walt Disney Company.

The people of Canada built the Canadian National Railway physically and through their tax dollars. When the railway was privatized in 1995 the name was changed from "Canadian National" to "CN" so that the company could distance itself from the word "Canada". The People's Railway became North America's Railroad.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada abandoned all 1,000 lighthouses in its portfolio.
The terms National Historic Site of Canada, Classified Federal Heritage Building and Recognized Heritage Building mean nothing, they do not confer legal protection on lighthouses, train stations, grain elevators, federal penitentiaries, post offices, Parks Canada historic sites...Why do you think the Rideau Canal, Lunenburg Nova Scotia and Old Quebec City are UNESCO World Heritage Sites?
In my opinion all of the Expo 67 pavilions and landscapes in Montreal should have been preserved, Montreal Mayor Jean Drapeau did not want to see the pavilions dismantled and the other attractions auctioned off. The La Ronde amusement park covers 146 acres of land.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation sold the rights to our unofficial national anthem, the "Hockey Night in Canada" tune.
This is what happens when federal buildings are privatized:
Canada's Maple Leaf Flags and Coat of Arms are removed.
The names of prominent people are removed.
The building loses all heritage protection and is most likely demolished.
