The National Capital Commission, an arms-length, commercial Crown corporation..

A federal Crown corporation that is determined to annex 50 acres of Experimental Farm land in Ottawa, despite the fact that:
1.) In 1998 the National Capital Commission paid $1 dollar for 2,000 acres of Greenbelt Farm land in Nepean, Ontario. The land is being leased to companies including an entity affiliated with a well-known multinational corporation.
2.)  The decommissioned Greenbelt Research Farm and the CEF are National Interest Land Mass properties and they should be reserved for Government of Canada institutions including agricultural museums and CFIA laboratories.
3.)  A March 19, 1954 Privy Council of Canada document stated that "The Central Experimental Farm should remain an open area in perpetuity."
4.)  Letters have been written to H.R.H Prince Charles and the Prime Minister of Canada imploring them to save the CEF.
5.)  Petition 388 was sent to the Auditor General of Canada "Protection of the Central Experimental Farm as a research facility and a national historic site of Canada." The Auditor General stated that there was a lack of public consultation.
 Even politicians such as Riley Brockington found it difficult to meet face-to-face with board members and bureaucrats, there was a lot of stonewalling and closed door meetings.
6.)  More than a dozen groups are vehemently opposed to the construction of a hospital and parking lots on the land.That list includes neigbourhood associations, the Greenbelt Alliance of Canada's Capital and Reimagine Ottawa.
7.) Influential Canadians including former Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May and politician and writer Clive Doucet want to see the integrity of the Farm preserved.
8.)  A traffic impact study has not been conducted, according to a Civic Hospital Neighbourhood Association newsletter. A 2002 traffic study concluded that streets in the area could not handle any more traffic.
9.)  A Cultural Heritage Study has not been conducted. Some of the most historic buildings in the nation are located on the CEF, including the Dominion Observatory, Booth Barn and Agricultural Museum.
10.)  The United Nations agency UNESCO may designate the Farm a Cultural World Heritage Site. The nearby Rideau Canal is already a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
11.)  Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act gives municipalities the ability to designate heritage conservation districts. I can envision the Farm, Little Italy, Dow's Lake, Queen Juliana Park and Commissioners Park as a Heritage Conservation District. Ottawa politician Katherine Hobbs wanted to save Queen Juliana Park from redevelopment. Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act already protects:
The ByWard Market
Sandy Hill West
New Edinburgh and many other neighbourhoods in the nation's capital.

Why is the NCC cancelling meetings with local politicians who represent their constituents; and ignoring petitions and letters from scientists from all over the world?
  You are accountable  to the people of Canada, NCC, because you receive money from the taxpayer-funded Consolidated Revenue Fund. Your mandate is to preserve the beauty and history of the National Capital ---and that includes historic landscapes and heritage buildings. You are not obligated to sign onto the City of Ottawa's "Carling-Preston Secondary Plan"- a document that should be tossed into the garbage because so little green space will be preserved;
so many condominiums will be constructed;
the streets will be congested with more traffic;
the existing infrastructure cannot handle the "tens of thousands" of people who are expected to flood into the Carling-Preston area in the next decade.
In fact, the National Capital Commission should be actively opposed to the "Carling-Preston District Secondary Plan" because of the damage that will be inflicted on the Dow's Lake/Farm and Commissioners Park tourist venues.

The following organizations want to see the Farm preserved.
1.)  Protect the Farm - Home|Facebook.
2.)  Save the Central Experimental Farm-Greenspace Alliance of Canada's Capital.
3.)  Saving the Central Experimental Farm|Heritage Ottawa.
4.)  COALITION TO SAVE THE CENTRAL EXPERIMENTAL FARM.
5.)  Canadian Council on Food Sovereignty and Health.
6.)  Save the Farm - Protest to save our trees and greenspace.-2017 Ecology Ottawa.
7.)  Agricultural Institute of Canada.
8.)  National Farmers' Union.
9.)  Friends of the Farm
10.) Civic Hospital Neighbourhood Association.
11.) National Trust for Canada.
12.) Reimagine Ottawa.
