Public Works and the National Capital Commission recently donated Queen Juliana Park to The Ottawa Hospital Corporation. The land has been zoned "mixed-use" and will be a residential and commercial zone and an O-train Station Area. I have lived near Carling Avenue for 20 years. I do not believe that the Little Italy and Carlington neighbourhoods ever approved of this monstrous, environmentally-destructive vision for their collective, historic communities---the Preston-Carling Secondary Plan and the 99-year lease agreement between the federal government and the hospital. Canadians can look forward to:
---a super hospital with massive parking lots.
---50-storey condominiums on government of Canada land.
--- widening of streets and pathways.

This is federal, Crown land that is being donated against our wishes to a corporation. The Royal Family in England is the country's biggest landowner. I cannot imagine British Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking the Queen or Prince Charles to donate or sell hundreds of acres of Sandringham or Windsor Castle to a health care facility, a residential developer or to a foreign billionaire.
That land is held in trust for future generations of kings and queen's, dukes and duchesses.
We, "the little people" do not have property rights over Crown land in our own country.
