Temporary Building #8 was constructed during World War 11 and demolished in 1976. A Mr. Edes at the National Capital Commission convinced Public Works and Government Services Canada to preserve the land as a green space and a venue for public events, However, the City of Ottawa and the National Capital Commission have big plans for the park---construction of an O-Train Station; condominiums that exceed 40 storeys in height and commercial spaces, read the "Preston-Carling Area Secondary Plan." And a massive new health care facility will be built on the grounds of the nearby Sir John Carling Building.
