During the 1970's and early 1980's PWGSC was "the country's biggest landlord." Now PWGSC is where many federal properties go to die. Where land and buildings are privatized and sold to real estate corporations, hospitals, international entities, the City of Ottawa. The taxpayers of Canada are on the hook for $11 million dollars to decontaminate the Sir John Carling site for the Civic. Taxpayers will pay for the destruction of more than 500 trees---along Prince of Wales Drive, Carling Avenue and near the evicted DARA Tennis Club. The crabapple trees along Prince of Wales or Highway 73 were part of Isabella Preston's vision.

Government of Canada departments and agencies have to justify their ownership of  buildings and land, otherwise the properties are "surplus":

In the year 2014 the City of Ottawa wanted to expand Ev Tremblay Park in Little Italy. (Google:City Council Meetings, OttWatch- July 9, 2014.) But that will never happen now, because the Ottawa Humane Society on 101 Champagne was sold to a company that builds residential towers. Before city councillors are elected to public office, they should provide voters with answers to the following questions:
Will you fight to preserve green space in your constituency? Are you concerned about the impact that mega projects will have on your community? I am talking about:
noise and light pollution.
an increase in traffic that will pose a danger to people in vehicles and to pedestrians.
the loss of Canadian history.
You are supposed to represent the people, and you have the power to reject zoning applications that compromise your values.
