An Update on Central Experimental Farm, Ottawa land transactions.
1950 - The north west section of the property was suggested as a location for a new Ottawa City Hall. Federal response was one of surprise. "Farm site rejected-Cannot build City Hall there." (From: The Evening Citizen, 2 February 1950.)

June 1953 - The National Capital Commission considers moving The Farm out of its urban area, but relents under pressure. (Ottawa Citizen 2007-12-31/150 years of memories-PressReader.)

1970's - The head of the National Capital Commission suggested that 700 acres of land should be annexed from the Experimental Farm and sold to housing developers. Agriculture Ministers Bud Olson and Eugene Whelan said the federal property was "untouchable."

1988 - Ninety-one acres of the CEF were sold to the City of Ottawa, the Clyde/Merivale lands.

1998 - The National Capital Commission bought the Nepean Research Farm  for $1 dollar."Behind closed doors with no one allowed to watch and listen, members of the NCC ponder making deals with Nortel, battling El Nino and buying the Experimental Farm for $1 dollar." by Tom Spears, Ottawa Citizen, August 24, 1998.

2008 - Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Gerry Ritz refuses to give the Ottawa Civic Hospital 60 acres of land located directly across the street.

2016 - The NCC rejected the Sir John Carling site as a location for the new Civic Hospital, they preferred Tunney's Pasture.

2016 - A few days later the NCC reversed that decision and the Sir John Carling site was chosen.
