There is massive opposition to the transfer of federal property to a hospital.

Comments to Ottawa politician Riley Brockington:
"I am appalled at the decision to build the Civic Hospital on the land of the Experimental Farm. The Experimental Farm serves as the Central Park of Ottawa. It's a people space used by citizens especially those of us in Kitchissippi  for walking in all seasons. I hope for a groundswell of opposition and failing that failed election results the next time the present city councillors are up for election given their betrayal of the needs of city people for a beautiful green space."

"This issue has indeed moved quickly with the initial announcement over a year ago made without any public consultation whatsoever...I missed seeking your seeking of input from Kitchissippi Ward residents."

"The public's opinion was asked but, again, no heed was taken. The Farm is being eaten away. We lost a big chunk to the suburban Central Park...Yes, the hospital has looked ahead and will be taking more of  the Farm at some point. I'm hoping it's after I'm dead and gone but I don't foresee that."

Save Ottawa's Precious Urban Green Space - Change.org
"We need to preserve this green space for many reasons. This is our Hyde Park, our Central Park; and once it has been paved over and built on we will never get it back. Having this urban green space is what makes Ottawa such an amazing City to live, work, play and visit."

"Our farm is being eaten up by developers. The hospital can take Tunney's as 7,000 people agreed to. It's the perfect place. Leave the farm as it is,"

"The location is not appropriate due to traffic concerns. This will create a major stress at Carling and Preston. Dow's Lake green space area will be affected negatively. This is pure non-sense!"

"This kind of backroom deal is bad for democracy and the future city."

"People of Ottawa old and new use this space, a green space essential to our health and well being. Essential also to the health of the city."

"Urban green space is more important than ever."

"I find this place a refuge from the urban angst surrounding it. I come here frequently and value it dearly."

"We use this space."

"I think a better site with less impact on the urban environment can be found. Try harder."

"This affects the green space close to my home and I feel strongly that the location should be tunney's."

"We use this space. We have and want to continue to create memories there!!!"

"Losing this urban green space would be tragic and unnecessary,"
